Want to learn a fun, social, and authentic Brazilian partner dance?
Forró is a joyful and welcoming dance from Brazil, danced socially all over the world. It is improvisational and connection-focused, with partners responding to each other and to the music in the moment. The dance emphasises communication, rhythm and shared movement — and it often feels even better than it looks.
Love to Forró Melbourne is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to sharing forró as a living cultural practice. Our classes focus on technique, musicality, posture and connection, supporting dancers to feel confident, comfortable and expressive on the social dance floor.
We offer three class groups designed to support different stages of the learning journey, from first-timers to experienced dancers looking to challenge themselves further.
No partner required. All classes are rotational, and everyone is welcome to learn as a lead or a follower.
Aru and Geovanne
Our classes are lead by Aru and Geovanne. 🤩
Familiar faces in our community and already part of the teaching team, Aru and Geovanne are Brazilian-born forró instructors based in Melbourne and key contributors to the local forró scene. Both have been active across festivals in Australia and have trained in Brazil.
Aru is a lifelong dance and music enthusiast who sees dance as a powerful way to connect people and build community. Her approach balances technique and playfulness, with a strong focus on musicality and that magic connection between body, music, and partner.
Geovanne has been dancing forró for over 10 years and continues to evolve through training and community. Currently diving into roots styles, he loves blending universitário with roots, bringing a grounded, dynamic, and playful energy to the dance floor. We’re excited for a year of shared movement, learning, and many dances together 💛

More Music. More Dancing. More Community.
Love to Forró Melbourne is a volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation. We're raising funds to purchase community sound equipment that can be shared across Forró events. Having our own equipment will reduce event costs, simplify logistics, and help our community organise more live music events, dances, workshops, and social events throughout Melbourne. Every contribution, big or small, helps keep our community growing. ❤️💃🎶
